BloomBabies publishes practical guidance and considered product advice for pregnancy and a baby’s first year. This page explains the standards we aim to follow when we plan, research, review and update our content.
Useful information, with clear limits
Our aim is to help readers understand what matters, what is known, what may depend on their circumstances and what a sensible next step could be. We want our content to be clear and useful without promising certainty or presenting one way of parenting as right for every family.
We write for first-time mothers while recognising that families, health, support and experiences differ. We aim to use calm, precise and non-judgemental language, and to make the scope of each guide clear.
How we work with evidence
We aim to use current, relevant sources for factual and health-related claims. Depending on the subject, these may include official health guidance, professional guidance, evidence reviews and research. We check that a source applies to the people, place and circumstances described, and link readers to useful sources where appropriate.
We distinguish evidence from personal experience, editorial judgement and manufacturer information. Experience can illustrate a point, but it does not establish that a claim is true for everyone. Search results, social posts, forums, affiliate pages and brand copy may help identify a question to investigate; they are not enough on their own to support a material claim.
Some topics need review by a suitably qualified person with current expertise. Where such a review has taken place, the article should identify the reviewer and describe the scope and date. A review of defined content does not amount to a clinical service or blanket approval of other content.
How we approach product advice
Product advice should start with a defined need and explain what a product may suit, what it may not suit, its limitations and relevant alternatives. Design matters, but it does not replace safety, suitability, quality, usability or value. Some readers may decide to buy; others may prefer to borrow, reuse, wait or buy nothing.
We aim to describe the basis for each recommendation accurately. First-hand testing, desk research and mixed evidence are different things. We should not describe a product as tested unless documented first-hand use took place under stated conditions. Where a point has not been assessed, the content should say so rather than present an assumption as an observation.
BloomBabies may have commercial relationships, including affiliate links, gifted or loaned products, or sponsored work. We aim to disclose a relevant relationship clearly before or beside the first affected recommendation, and to explain who benefits. Payment, commission, samples or sponsorship should not guarantee coverage, a favourable conclusion or a ranking. Editorial conclusions should remain under editorial control.
Who creates and reviews our content
Articles should carry an accurate byline and publication date. We include credentials only when they have been verified and are relevant to the subject. A reviewer is named only when they have reviewed that defined content; their role, review scope and date should be clear. The author or editor remains responsible for the published article.
Corrections and questions
If we find that an article contains a material factual error, we aim to correct it and explain significant changes on the page. For an issue that could affect health or safety, our intended approach is to assess it promptly and add a clear warning or temporarily remove the content while it is checked. Minor changes that do not alter meaning may not need a public note.
Readers should be able to contact us with a correction, concern or question about a specific page.
